Exercise saves lives - a true story

From Nina 🩶
“ I am living prove that keeping active and healthy does help. I will be celebrating 10 years of life in June. In June 2016 I had a heart attack and at the time I was attending 2-3 classes a week (mainly CardioCombat) and hiking at the weekend. I didn’t know I was having a heart attack, as I wasn’t showing the normal symptoms, apparently ladies often don’t. One of my arteries was completely blocked with a blood clot and I ended up having 4 stents. I was very lucky. I was told by the hospital that if I hadn’t have been as fit and healthy as I was at the time, I would not have survived. As I have heart disease now, this is one of the main reasons why I still keep attending classes. The bonus is that I love the classes, and the people in them and the instructor xx. “
Heart attack symptoms in women can be subtle, different, and easy to dismiss. They don’t always match the “classic” crushing chest pain.
🩶Most common signs
• Chest pain, pressure, tightness or burning (may be mild or come and go)
• Shortness of breath (with or without chest discomfort)
🩶Common non-typical symptoms in women
• Unusual fatigue (often days before)
• Nausea or vomiting
• Dizziness or lightheadedness
• Sweating (cold sweats)
• Pain in the jaw, neck, back, or shoulders
• Indigestion or a feeling like heartburn
• Anxiety or a sense that something isn’t right
🩶What makes this tricky
• Symptoms can be less intense than in men
• Pain may not be in the chest at all
• It’s often mistaken for stress, menopause, or digestive issues
🩶When to act
If something feels off or symptoms last more than a few minutes: Call 999 immediately
Don’t wait. Don’t drive yourself. Early treatment saves lives.
