MYTH: You need to lose weight or dress sizes before joining an exercise class.
Truth: Exercise is part of the solution — not the reward at the end.
A good diet combined with movement is the most effective way to manage weight long term. Dieting alone can lead to weight loss through a calorie deficit, but hormones (especially during peri- and menopause) can make this harder. That’s where strength and bodyweight training really matter — they support metabolism and help build lean muscle.
Eating well helps you feel better too. Whole grains, quality protein, healthy fats, and plenty of fruit and veg will always outperform a junk-heavy diet for energy, mood, and consistency.
Exercise:
• Boosts metabolism
• Builds lean muscle (which burns more calories at rest)
• Releases feel-good hormones
• Reduces stress
Often changes dress size before the scales move
You do not need to be a certain size or weight to come to class. You come as you are. Classes are there to support your journey — not judge it.
Equally, lots of exercise alongside poor nutrition can still lead to weight gain. Balance matters.
🔹No extreme diets.
🔹No punishing workouts.
🔹Consistency and moderation win every time.
If dieting feels overwhelming, extra support can help — slimming groups or a qualified nutritionist can provide realistic, affordable tools that actually fit real life.
Move first. Build habits. Results follow.🩵
